Relentless smog again puts Lahore on top of world’s most polluted cities

Air Quality Index in city recorded at 360

Smog persists in Lahore as with the air quality index (AQI) recorded at 360 on Saturday, the Punjab capital again topped the list of the world’s cities with worst air quality, reported 24NewsHD TV channel. 

The smog is not as dense as it was during the first spell. But it was still quite threatening.

Valencia locality of the city was the worst affected as the AQI there was recorded at 485.

It was followed by the CERPC office where it stood at 429.

Similarly, the AQI over Syed Maratab Ali Road and Johar Town was recorded at 400. 

People were advised to mostly stay indoors in order to avoid exposure to smog.

And to make matters worse, the Met Office said that no rain was expected in the city during the remaining days of November. 

The Office forecast that the maximum temperature in the city would go up to 25 degrees Celsius later in the day, while it would remain 14 degrees Celsius on the minimum side.  

Multan, with AQI recorded at 314, emerged as the second most polluted city in the country while Peshawar, with AQI 185, was on the third spot.
