Sheikh Rashid’s enthusiasm for Pak-India match comes to abrupt end

The enthusiasm shown by Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad for watching the high-voltage Pakistan-India cricket match in Dubai came to an abrupt end on Saturday as he was called back in view of the prevailing law and order situation in country, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The development came after the countrywide protests by outlawed Tehrik-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) went violent resulting in the martyrdom of two policemen in Lahore.

Sheikh Rashid who had left Islamabad for Sharjah on Friday after getting two-day leave from Prime Minister Imran Khan to watch the Pakistan-India T20 World Cup match on Sunday, returned to the country on a private flight PK-213, sources said.

On October 20, Sheikh Rashid had said that he was granted two-day leave by Prime Minister Imran Khan for watching the Pakistan-India T20 World Cup clash in Dubai.

Talking to newsmen in Islamabad on Wednesday, Sheikh Rashid had said one should take sports as sports whether it is Kolkata, Chennai or Dubai.

“I am going to Dubai on Saturday and Sunday to watch the T20 cricket match,” he added.

The minister said he prayed to Allah for the victory of the Pakistan team. “Whatever the outcome of the match everyone should accept it,” he added.
