Singer Ali Azmat justifies remarks on Noor Jehan after backlash

Singer Ali Azmat has been making a lot of headlines in recent days after his video on a controversial statement about Noor Jehan went viral.

Junoon frontman, Ali Azmat gave his clarification on Facebook by dropping a video, over his disgraceful comments on legendary Noor Jehan.

Ali wrote a caption while dropping a justification video on Facebook, “My statement on the recent controversy about the legend Madam Noor Jehan. My respect, admiration and love for Madam and her family does not need any validation from people who edit old videos to create controversies. #MadamNoorJehan #Pakistan #MalkaTarranum #LegendForever”

In an interview on YouTube Channel, “The Current”, Ali Azmat was making a comparison between the music of today and the music of his childhood.

While making the comparison “Jazba Junnon” singer made an unnecessary comment on Noor Jehan and labelled her “Kofta” and “Aunty”.

Earlier, Ahmad Ali Butt reacted to his remarks on ‘Malika-e-Tarannum’ Noor Jehan.

The Entity Paradigm (EP) frontman took to his Instagram and bashed “Ali Azmat on his blazing comments about his grandmother.

Ahmad wrote, “My Late Grandmother Madam Noor Jehan "Is" the greatest artist of the subcontinent and that's a fact.”

He penned, “I have always respected Ali Azmat as an artist and as a friend. He is one of Pakistan's biggest rock star, his outspoken attitude has always been his trademark but his recent remarks over Noor Jehan were just in bad taste especially when that person is no longer alive.”

Ahmad stated, “I'm sure he also knows how big of a legacy Noor Jehan has and 1000 rock bands can't measure up to her 1 song.”

“I don't hold it against him because he is an artist also and very well knows that respect comes when you give respect, otherwise your just putting yourself in a position where people will disgrace your own legacy.”

“As for The Melody Queen Noor Jehan... "gai ge duneya geet mayray"...Forever, Ahmad further added”.

Ali said, in his childhood he preferred to listen more to the likes of western influencers like Nazia Hassan and Alamgir.

Though growing up older, I realized that Noor Jahan is a household name with no match of her calibre, Azmat added.

However, Ali Azmat mentioned in his clarification statement that his sentiment about the late singing queen was traced back to his childhood time, when Ali was six years old.

Ali, also take a jibe on the person who shared specific clip from interview held by Ahmed Pansota.

He said that whoever did this stood with the agenda to spoil my repute.

Ali, further added that he felt disappointed, as this clip stuff hurt Noor Jahan’s daughters: Mina Hassan, Nazia Ejaz Khan and grandson Ahmed Ali Butt.
