Journalists covering Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi’s private visit to Pakpattan Sunday protested outside of Baba Fareed Shrine as the police harassed and manhandled them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi went to Pakpattan on a private visit which caused a lot of trouble to the general public and the business centers as well. Due to security reasons, the district administration forcefully shut down hundreds of markets and blocked the entrance and exit routes to the city seven hours before his actual arrival.

The Descendant of the throne of Baba Fareed Ganj Shakar Usman Fareed Chishti gave the CM a very warm welcome. Pervaiz Elahi paid a visit to the shrine, placed a wreath of flowers on the tomb, and prayed for the country’s safety and well-being. Whereas, the other pilgrims who had come from far were deprived of paying their visits and salutations as the shrine was completely sealed for the other pilgrims.

The journalists covering the CM’s visit were bullied and manhandled by the police due to which they sat in for a protest right outside the Mazaar. The protest was later on dispersed when Pervaiz Elahi himself assured the journalists that the policemen who misbehaved will be taken stern legal action against.

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that the best facilities will be provided for the pilgrims coming to the land of “Gunj Shakar”. He announced a hefty fund of Rs2 billion for the facilities and also ordered the Deputy Commissioner to create feasibility for a journalist colony in the city.
