National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq called on PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan at Parliament House and requested him to attend the meeting of parliamentary committee which is meeting for the appointment of Chief Justice of Pakistan among the three senior-most judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Sardar Ayaz Sadiq told Barrister Gohar that appointment of Chief Justice by parliamentary committee is an important issue therefore the presence of opposition party is of vital importance.

The decision was conveyed after a meeting between members of the parliamentary subcommittee and representatives from the PTI-SIC, held in the speaker’s chamber on Tuesday. Despite efforts by the committee, including National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, to convince the PTI members to attend, Barrister Gohar Ali Khan confirmed that their political committee had decided to abstain from the proceedings.

"We have made our decision. We will not be part of this committee's meetings," Gohar Ali Khan stated, following discussions in Speaker Sadiq’s office.

Barrister Gohar after hearing the requests of the delegation flatly refused that PTI has boycotted the meeting therefore it will not attend meeting of parliamentary committee which is going to nominate CJP.

JUI Senator Kamran Murtaza, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Raina Ansar were also present on the occasion.
