In a recent press conference held in Peshawar, CCPO Syed Ashfaq Anwar and RPO Kohat Sher Akbar Khan revealed details about an organised network involved in the MD CAT scam, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to Anwar, 44 spy devices were used in the test, indicating the scale of the operation.
Anwar praised the efforts of the Kohat Police, stating that their assistance was instrumental in exposing all the gang members involved in the scam.
So far, 74 students have been arrested for cheating, and cases have been registered against them in various police stations in Peshawar.
In addition to the arrests, seven solved papers were also recovered from the accused, further implicating them in the scam. Anwar mentioned that a forensic analysis of the devices is underway, which will reveal where their manufacturing took place.
Cases have already been registered against the main accused in the scam. Along with the accused, mobile phones and a bank check worth lakhs were also recovered, providing more evidence of the illicit activities.
The authorities are also checking the CDR records of the ETA staff on duty in the examination centres to uncover any potential collusion. Anwar revealed that the relevant institutions have written a letter requesting the IP address information of the network server to which the devices were connected.
