JI KP leader Haji Habib dies of coronavirus

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) leader from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and former minister of Zakat and Usher, Auqaf, Hajj and Religious Affairs Haji Habib-ur-Rahman passed away due to Covid-19. He was 73, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Habib-ur-Rahman was hospitalized in Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar for treatment but could not survive.

The funeral prayers of the JI leader will be offered at 6pm at his native village Kalpani in tehsil Gagra of district Buner.

Ironically, wife of Habib-ur-Rehman had also passed away 12 days ago fighting the Covid-19, the TV channel reported.

Habib-ur-Rahman belonged to Kalpani village of district Buner and served as minister of Auqaf in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly from 2013 to 2018 after winning from PK-78 Buner-II. He was born on January 6, 1948.

In the last, 24hours (Friday) 1265 new cases of Covid-19 were reported in Punjab and 37 people breathed their last battling the deadly virus, as per the data released by the National Command and Control Center (NCOC).
