Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA) launches a key initiative to upgrade traffic management in Lahore by installing global-standard traffic signals and signage at key chowks, beginning with a pilot project at Faisal Chowk on The Mall.

According to Tepa Chief Engineer Iqrar Hussain, work on the Faisal Chowk project is near completion. All civil work has been completed. Now we’re in the final stage of installing modern signals and signage, said the chief engineer. The state-of-the-art system includes automated signals for both vehicles and pedestrians, aimed at improving safety and reducing traffic accidents. Hussain also noted that road surface lights have been installed as part of the upgrade.

Initially, older signal systems were planned for the project, but the proposal was later revised to include the latest technology. If successful, this pilot at Faisal Chowk will pave the way for modern traffic systems at other major intersections across the city.
