The most dangerous accused, wanted in countless cases of robbery and vehicles, was killed in firing between Crime Control Department Iqbal Town and dacoits in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
The police team was taking the accused Allah Rakha, who was remanded, to the Sanda police station to recover the stolen goods and arrest his accomplices.
Meanwhile, the unknown accused opened indiscriminate fire on the police party to rescue their detained accomplice and to avoid arrest.
The accused Allah Rakha was seriously injured in the crossfire and was being shifted to the hospital, where he died on the way.
DSP CCD Iqbal Town Muhammad Qamar Sajid said the deceased accused was a notorious previous record holder in serious crimes related to robbery and vehicles,
He said the firing by the unknown accused severely damaged the government vehicle.
The other accomplices of the deceased accused fled taking advantage of the darkness.
