A senior officer of Parliament House was charge-sheeted and four other employees were issued final warning for their involvement in “political activities”, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Taking strict notice, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayad Sadiq issued show-cause notice and charge-sheet to Deputy Sergeant at Arms Sajjad Ahmad Khan.
The NA speaker also delivered final warning to four other staff members.
Sajjad Khan was deployed at the chamber of Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Omar Ayub but he was involving in bringing people from his native area to the PTI’s sit-in protest.
Sources in the National Assembly divulged to the 24News TV channel that despite repeated warnings Sajjad Khan kept on bringing people to the sit-in.
Other four staff members were on duty with former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser, but they despite being employees of the National Assembly themselves participated in the sit-in.
All the four have been issued final warning notices which were also confirmed by a National Assembly spokesman.
In May last, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq had suspended eight security officials over the entry of some “unauthorised” people into the Parliament House building and ordered a “departmental action” against them.
According to an official handout issued by the NA Secretariat then, the NA speaker had taken this punitive action “to ensure the security and supremacy of the parliament”.
The action came days after the assembly’s director general banned reporters from carrying mobile phones to the press gallery.
