After six years, a Karachi court has imposed a heavy fine of Rs 19.3 million on K-Electric in the electrocution case of a minor boy, Azan, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Tuesday.
The court's verdict pertains to a six-year-old case involving Azan’s tragic death due to electrocution during the 2017 monsoon rains.
Senior Civil Judge East Karachi, Ambreen Jamal, issued the decree against K-Electric officials.
The court ordered K-Electric to pay compensation of Rs 19.3 million to the bereaved family.
Advocate Usman Farooq, representing the family, stated that the claim was filed in 2017, holding K-Electric responsible for negligence.
He emphasised, "K-Electric’s failure to guard wires was evident, and the court has validated our claim for compensation."
