Expressing pessimism that he did not see PTI, government talks bearing fruits, former federal minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rashid said on Tuesday still he prayed to the Almighty Allah for their success, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Speaking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, the veteran politician asked both sides to refrain from issuing statements, which could adversely affect the negotiations.

Lamenting that thousands of poor political workers had been crammed into jails, Rasheed said all he wanted was the talks to result in the release of these prisoners and the formation of a judicial commission to probe the May 9 and November 26 incidents.

He reminded he had said this before that all workers should be released. “Governments do give amnesty. It is something not new to them,” he said categorically.

The AML chief said that presently the government was under pressure from the international community. “The government should make sure that the country’s economy, which is already on its knees, does not get hit because of that.”

He said that the government did not enjoy the support of the masses.

The former minister said that so many cases had been registered against him that he had now got tired.

On the reports of a booming stock exchange, Rasheed said it would be better to ask a common man how he made both ends meet.

He was of the view that the Pakistan’s image in the eyes of the international community had been tarnished and not a single country was in its favour.
