MNA Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain has found himself in an imbroglio after he uploaded a controversial tweet about Maryam Nawaz, triggering a scathing response from the Pakistan Hindu Council, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
PML-N Vice-President Maryam Nawaz while addressing newsmen in Lahore on Saturday last warned the PTI government to back away from stealing the vote in Daska by-election otherwise they will ‘see a different Maryam’.
Amir Liaquat in his tweet depicted Maryam Nawaz as some Hindu devi (goddess) prompting a strong reaction from the Pakistan Hindu Council (PHC) which demanded immediate removal of the tweet.
PHC chief Dr Ramesh Kumar said the lawmaker who claimed to be a religious scholar is uploading insulting material on social media. He demanded strict action against him under Blasphemy Act.

Issuing an ultimatum, Dr Ramesh Kumar said Amir Liaquat Hussain should immediately delete the tweet and offer an apology, otherwise, PHC reserved the right to stage countrywide protests against him.
Ramesh said Amir Liaquat’s hateful step has caused anxiety among the Hindu community. The lawmaker should also promise not to repeat such an act in the future as well, the PHC chief added.
If Amir Liaquat does not offer apology a case under Blasphemy Act should be filed against him, Dr Ramesh Kumar said.
