Peshawar Zalmi Thursday won the toss and elected to bat first as it lock horns with Islamabad United in the first eliminator of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Gaddafi Stadium, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
As per the statistics, Peshawar Zalmi clinched victory in six of their 10 matches, and they are placed at third position on the table with 12 points.
On the other hand, Islamabad United remained successful in four of their 10 matches, and they have secured fourth position on the table with eight points.
Islamabad United who started the tournament in fine style, struggled afterwards because of injuries and players unavailability, finished fourth on the points table.
In their league matches between these two, both the teams won one each. Overall both the teams have played 18 games between them. Peshawar Zalmi won 9, Islamabad United won 8 and one match was ended without any result.
The good news from Islamabad United that Shadab Khan is fit and back and leading them in this eliminator. Alex Hales is also back into the United colours to further boost their chances.
Shadab has been the best bowler for Islamabad United and has picked up 17 wickets with a superb economy rate of 6.04. Hales availability bolsters Islamabad because he is the top run-scorer with 255 runs at a strike rate of 156.
For Peshawar, Shoaib Malik is the top run-scorer with 346 runs at a strike rate of 138. Ben Cutting has also made 197 runs at a strike rate of 164. Salman Irshad has been the best bowler for Peshawar Zalmi and has picked up 12 wickets with an economy rate of 8.32.
The winner of the match will play Lahore Qalandars in the second qualifier to decide the final opponent of defending champions Multan Sultans.
