Asif Zardari wants Shehbaz to become prime minister

Former president Asif Ali Zardari wants PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif to be next prime minister, 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Wednesday.

He presented the proposal during deliberations upon the measures to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan at a Shehbaz Sharif’s residence. JUI chief Fazlur Rehman and other leaders of the opposition parties

The meeting made the decision to file a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly and the former president was given the task to deal with ruling coalition parties. Fazl and Nawaz Sharif, who joined the meeting through video link, also seconded Zardari’s suggestion.

Zardari apprised the meeting about the positive contacts with the ruling coalition parties, PML-Q and Balochistan Awami Party.

The top leaders of opposition parties have reiterated their resolve to continue concerted efforts to get rid of ‘incompetent’ government.

They agreed on a joint strategy and took into confidence allied parties so that no-trust motion could be fruitful.

They ponder over steps to give tough time to the government inside and outside the parliament. The leaders lashed out at the government over the PECA act, calling it unlawful and unconstitutional. 

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pervez Ashraf, Saad Rafique, Rana Sanaullah, Ayaz Sadiq, Maulana Asad and Akram Durrani were also present.

They said that inflation has been surging and the government blaming it on the past rulers. The opposition leaders said people have been finding it difficult to make both ends meet for the past three-and-a-half years.
