The 30-year-old, who had been signed by Multan Sultans as a replacement for Reece Topley, pulled up with a groin injury while bowling against Islamabad United.

Olly Stone has been ruled out of the remainder of the Pakistan Super League due to injury.

The 30-year-old was signed by Multan Sultans as a replacement for fellow England pace bowler Reece Topley, who withdrew from the tournament earlier in February.

However, Stone pulled up with a groin issue while bowling against Islamabad United on February 20 and did not deliver the final two balls of his allocation.

He returned 0 for 28 from his 3.4 overs, with Khushdil Shah stepping into the attack for the outstanding deliveries.

Stone has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, including sustaining four stress fractures in his back.

Last May, he suffered a hamstring injury while bowling for Nottinghamshire against Lancashire in the County Championship and bowled just three balls on his return to action against Birmingham Bears in the Blast in June.

He was later ruled out of The Hundred, a competition he is yet to make his debut in due to his various injuries, but enjoyed a busy winter on the T20 circuit after returning to fitness, earning contracts with Melbourne Stars (Big Bash), MI Cape Town (SA20), and Dubai Capitals (ILT20).

Stone, who made his first-team debut in 2011, has made 159 appearances in his career to date, taking 269 wickets. He has 12 caps for England, featuring in all three formats.

Despite losing a third bowler to injury – Ihsanullah has a long-standing elbow issue – Multan Sultans currently sit top of the PSL, with three wins from three matches.
