A court in Karachi on Tuesday discharged a case regarding sale of sensitive data of 115 million Pakistanis on dark web, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
Petitioner Tariq Mansoor advocate told the court that the government was persistently delaying legislation in this regard. He said there was no national cyber policy so far. As many as four major incidents of cyber data theft had happened in Pakistan. If some greater incident occurred in future, there will be no legal protection, he added.
Advocate Mansoor said that the sensitive data was being sold and uploaded on the dark web. He claimed that this data was being sold for Rs350 million. The data includes the identity card numbers, complete addresses, phone numbers and other personal information of the mobile users.
The petitioner requested the court to stop the concerned authorities from selling sensitive data.
