Islamabad police finalizes security plan for general elections

Islamabad Police has finalized the security plan related to the general elections slated to be held on February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.

A high-level meeting was held under on Wednesday the chair of Islamabad IG Police Akbar Nasir Khan regarding the security of the city during the election.

The meeting was attended by all police officers of federal capital, SSP operations, AIG operations and DPOs.

According to the spokesperson for Islamabad Police, the security plan related to the election has been finalized, but the practical measures are delayed due to the non-release of funds.

The spokesperson said that holidays of all police personnel have been cancelled until further notice. He said 10,000 personnel of police and other law enforcement agencies would perform duties, volunteers and retired officers would be hired for additional duties. Besides this, a request has been made to engage 500 volunteer women.

The spokesman said that the violation of the code of conduct of the election would not be tolerated, there would be no leniency on the display of weapons, protest or disturbance of public peace, cameras would be installed at all sensitive polling stations and central control room in Safe City Islamabad would be established.

He said that the first priority of the Islamabad Capital Police is to hold peaceful elections. He asked the people to report any unusual activity on Call 15 or ICT 15 app.

Sensitive polling stations

Meanwhile, security agencies have compiled data of sensitive and most sensitive polling stations in three constituencies of Islamabad.

According to sources, a total of 990 polling stations will be established in three constituencies and out of the total 78 polling stations were declared sensitive.

The sources further said that the declared 78 polling stations have been divided in three categories.

In these categories, 17 sensitive polling stations are in ‘A’ category, 28 in ‘B’ and 33 polling stations are included in ‘C’ category.

As many as 158 polling stations in all the three constituencies will be established jointly.

The sources said that the report of sensitive polling stations has been sent to administrations for security plan.
