Punjab is set to build its first dedicated cancer hospital, the Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital, with the initial phase consisting of 150 beds, reported 24NewsHd TV channel Tuesday.
The first phase of the hospital, spread over 333 kanals, will have 100 beds for adults and 50 for children, and will include facilities for chemotherapy.
The construction of the first phase is estimated to cost 3.26 billion rupees. The project will be executed through the Infrastructure Development and Economic Planning (IDEP), which has invited applications from private contractors for the construction work.
The hospital's construction will proceed in phases, with chemotherapy services being prioritized in the first phase. This development marks a significant step forward in providing specialized cancer treatment facilities in Punjab.
