Sindh Rescue 1122 appoints first female firefighters in historic move

For the first time in Pakistan's history, women have been appointed as firefighters, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Wednesday.

According to the channel report, Sindh Rescue 1122 has recruited 72 female firefighters.

Director General of Sindh Rescu 1122 Dr Abid said these female firefighters are fully capable of handling any fire incidents in Karachi with ease.

He said these women have also been trained to rescue individuals from drowning incidents in the sea and canals. 

He said the recruits include women from various parts of rural Sindh, and they received their training in Punjab.

One of the newly appointed lady firefighters stated, "We are fully equipped and trained to handle any fire emergencies."
