Shehbaz phones his Afghan counterpart; reaffirms support for quake victims

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a telephonic conversation with the acting prime minister of Afghanistan on Thursday expressed his deep shock over the loss of lives in an earthquake that shook the eastern parts of the country, bordering Pakistan, two days back, on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday. 

This was disclosed in a series of tweets which PM Shehbaz made. 

Prime Minister told the Afghan acting prime minister that Pakistan stood by the people of Afghanistan in these times of crisis. “The injured Afghans are being provided treatment at Pakistani hospitals,” he said, and offered his condolences to the families of those who were killed in the natural disaster.  

As many as 1,000 people were killed and hundreds of houses were razed to the ground in Afghanistan's borders areas.
