The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) has submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly supporting "Operation Azm-e-Istehkam."
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, the resolution was introduced by PML-N's female member on a reserved seat Hina Pervaiz Butt.
The text of the resolution reads: "This House welcomes the approval of 'Operation Azm-e-Istehkam' by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This House assures full support for the operation's commitment to stability. This House prays for the success of 'Operation Azm-e-Istehkam.' It also assures full cooperation with the Pakistan Armed Forces, Police, and all security agencies. All provincial governments, including the federal government, should unite on a single-point agenda to eradicate terrorism."
The resolution continues: "The entire nation stands alongside Pakistan's forces and security agencies to root out the scourge of terrorism. Implementation of all points of the National Action Plan must be ensured in a true sense. A peaceful Pakistan is the guarantor of a prosperous Pakistan."
Two days ago, the Prime Minister approved a reinvigorated and re-energized national counter-terrorism campaign through the launching of Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, with the consensus of all stakeholders including the Provinces, Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, symbolizing the national resolve to eradicate extremism and terrorism from the country.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved this operation while chairing a meeting of the Central Apex Committee on the National Action Plan (NAP) in Islamabad last Saturday.
Operation Azm-e-Istehkam will integrate and synergize multiple lines of effort to combat the menaces of extremism and terrorism in a comprehensive and decisive manner.
