Heavy contingents of police and Rangers on the sixth consecutive day of their joint operation against dacoits in the katcha area near Tangwani, Sindh on Sunday set fire to their several hideouts after destroying them, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
SSP Bashir Ahmad Brohi said that the operation had been launched to arrest the murderers of Allah Rakhio Nandwani, who was a teacher. “So far one dacoit has been killed while four captives have been released in the operation,” he said, adding, “The slain dacoit belonged to Hassu Banglani gang.”
SSP Brohi informed that armoured vehicles were also used in the operation.
The officer expressed the hope that very soon the assassins of Nandwani would be arrested and all captives would be released.
Several dens of dacoits destroyed in Shikarpur
In another police operation against lawless elements in the katcha area near Shikarpur, police destroyed several hideouts of dacoits.
SSP Shikarpur Irfan Ali Samun told the media that in the operation carried out in the jurisdiction of Garhi Yasin police station, several suspected dacoits were also taken into custody while further investigation was underway.
Rallies taken out in Sindh cities for recovery of Priya Kumari
Also on Sunday, protest demonstrations were held in Kashmore and Thul in Sindh for the recovery of Priya Kumari, a Hindu girl, who had gone missing from Thul Sangrar 10 months ago.
In Thul, members of Jidojehd Action Committee, civil society and the Hindu community took out a rally from the Municipal Committee, which after passing through different routes finally culminated at Rahbar Chowk where the protestors staged a sit-in.
The protestors chanted slogans and demanded the government take concrete steps for the recovery of the little girl.
In Kashmore, people belonging to political and social backgrounds as well as ordinary citizens took out a rally from Hindu Mohallah, which after passing through different routes finally culminated at Press Club Chowk.
Speaking to the protestors, the speakers said that despite the passage of 10 months, the police had failed to recover little Priya.
They demanded the government take notice of the situation and get the girl recovered.
