Pakistan’s weather department has forecast widespread rain, thunderstorms, and the possibility of hailstorms in several regions leading up to Eid ul-Fitr.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicts that this wet weather will occur between March 25 and 27, affecting northern and central areas, with snowfall expected in mountainous regions.

PMD reports that locations such as Buner, Dir, Malakand, Swabi, Charsadda, Abbottabad, and Peshawar are likely to experience rain from March 25 to 27. Other areas, including Karak, Lakki Marwat, North and South Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan, may also face rain, hail, and snowfall at higher altitudes.

Rainfall and light snowfall are expected in Islamabad, the Potohar region, Murree, and Galiyat during the same period. Additionally, central Punjab is likely to receive scattered rain showers.

In Sindh, dust storms are expected on March 25 and 26, while parts of Balochistan—such as Quetta, Ziarat, Zhob, Musa Khel, Chaman, and Mastung—will likely experience rain.

The Met Office has issued a warning about thunderstorms and hail, which could damage power lines and solar panels. Landslides are also a risk in hilly areas due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

PMD has raised concerns about severe hailstorms in upper Punjab, Islamabad, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which may harm standing crops, especially wheat. Strong winds and hail may also cause structural damage in these regions.

Authorities are urging residents and farmers to take necessary precautions ahead of the anticipated weather disruptions.
