Police thwart terrorist attack on DG Khan checkpost

Around 20 to 25 terrorists of Fitna al-Khwarij attacked Jhangi Police Checkpost from four sides taking advantage of darkness but was foiled by timely action of the Dera Ghazi Khan Police late Sunday night, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

A spokesman of the Punjab police said that the terrorists used rocket-launchers and latest automatic weapons for the attack.

The spokesman further revealed that there were reports that retaliation by police caused losses to the terrorists.

A police team led by Regional Police Officer (RPO) Sajjad Manj led the operation while District Police Officer (DPO) Syed Ali was also present during the operation.

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar lauded the DG Khan police team for foiling terrorist attack on the police checkpost. 

He said that additional weapons and force would be given to DG Khan police.

The police spokesman said that a search operation already underway to arrest the fleeing terrorists.

Mohsin Naqvi praises Punjab police

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi lauded Punjab police for thwarting terrorist attack on Wahuwa Jhangvi Police Check-Post.

He said that Punjab police swift and effective response prevented the terrorists from executing their plans.

He said that our brave personnel foiled nefarious designs of terrorists to destabilize Pakistan.

The Interior Minister went on to saying that “we are proud of sacrifices rendered by brave personnel of Punjab police in fight against terrorism”.

The minister extended his congratulations to the entire police team, expressing pride in their dedication and commitment to ensuring security.
