Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb Thursday presided over a meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), where several crucial financial approvals were made, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The ECC approved $2.58 million in compensation for the families of the six Chinese nationals killed in a terrorist attack on the Dasu Hydro Project on March 26. The compensation will be disbursed through the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing.
Additionally, the committee authorized the release of $8 million for expenses related to the Roosevelt Hotel in New York, which has been closed since 2020. The hotel has accumulated $150 million in debt from the National Bank of Pakistan.
The ECC also approved more than Rs1.2 billion for the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) and funds from Pakistan Steel Mills to settle outstanding bills with Sui Southern Gas Company.
Further approvals included Rs555 million for Islamabad administration projects, over Rs12 billion for a federal program aimed at preventing multiple diseases, Rs2.21 billion for development expenditure in the Power Division, and Rs180.45 million for a Technical Supplementary Grant to the Nuclear Regulatory Authority.
