As the heatwave intensified in the country, the duration of load-shedding was increasing day by day in various parts of Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), a government-owned electric distribution company, has said that the electricity demand has exceeded 4300MW. While it was getting the supply of 4000MW from National Power Construction Corporation Pvt Ltd (NPCC), resultantly LESCO was facing a shortfall of 300MW power.
Due to the shortfall, LESCO has increased load-shedding high line loss areas and consequently, the power consumers were facing problems due to the outage.
Meanwhile, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that K-Electric cannot punish the masses in the name of line losses which was a severe violation of the law.
Memon said the entire area cannot be punished for the faults of a few defaulters.
He said power companies were earning from here but were not investing in bringing improvement in their infrastructure. He said that the infrastructure of K-Electric, HESCO and other power companies of Sindh was poor and their transformers cannot withstand the power load.
Sindh Information Minister said that electricity comes under the management of the federal government and the Sindh govt has requested the Centre to direct these companies to improve their performance.
