To combat the spread of dengue, the district administration has enforced Section 144 in Peshawar for 30 days, 24News HD TV Channel reported on Friday.
According to the channel, under this law, actions will be taken against individuals found accumulating garbage, allowing water to stagnate, or leaving water containers uncovered across the district.
The Peshawar administration said, these measures aim to eliminate potential breeding grounds for dengue-carrying mosquitoes and prevent the outbreak of the disease.
The Health Department implored citizens to maintain clean surroundings, emphasizing prevention and urges cooperation with health department teams.
Last year in December, the dengue crisis was intensified in Punjab. Lahore brunt with 6,602 dengue cases followed by Rawalpindi (2,633), Gujranwala (1,533), Multan (1,379), and Faisalabad (851).
In Sindh, 1,764 cases of dengue fever were reported last year and Karachi topped the list of dengue patients followed by the Hyderabad division, Mirpur Khas, Larkana, Sukkur and Shaheed Benazirabad.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, no death due to dengue was reported till October 2023.
