All Pakistan Car Carriers Association (APCCA) Wednesday announced a strike from tomorrow and stops the delivery of vehicles across the country.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, APPCA President Imdad Hussain Naqvi held a press conference in Karachi and expressed strong reservations on the incidents of stealing luxurious cars from the carriers on the highways.
He gave the reference of the recent two incidents in which many luxurious cars have been stolen by the armed persons from the car carriers after kidnapping the driver and conductors.
Naqvi said their strike would continue till giving full protection to their business, and their lives.
Against the recent incidents, United Goods Transport Alliance Pakistan (UGTAP) President Ghulam Yasin Khan also announced support for the Car Carriers Association strike.
The APPCA and UGTAP leaders demanded the government to protect their lives, property and business because transporters were in a state of panic over the recurrence of such incidents.
Pertinent to mention here on last Sunday, armed men in Naushero Feroze (Sindh) kidnapped two drivers of a car carrier, and also took away with them two luxurious cars, V-8 and a land cruiser.
The men intercepted a car carrier, heading from Karachi to Rawalpindi, and bearing number plate: TLF-173; made the two drivers disembark from the carrier, bundled them into their double cabin before driving away their carrier to Kandyaro.
Later they tied both hands of the drivers and threw them into sugarcane fields.
All Pakistan Car Carriers Association President Imdad Hussain Naqvi has alleged that the police are not registering a case against the culprits.
He has appealed to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh and DG Rangers to help them in the recovery of the two luxurious cars the robbers had taken away with them. “This is the third incident of its kind in just two months. The authorities are requested to provide us protection, ”he implored.
And in a recent incident on Wednesday, highwaymen snatched three brand-new double-cabin vehicles from a car carrier truck near Hala in Sindh while going from Karachi to Peshawar.
The dacoits off-loaded the cars and fled away with them while holding the lorry staff hostage. Later, they dropped the staff near Khairpur. The driver and other helping staff of the truck were later found from Matiari.
