Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Monday condemned, what he said, unjustified sloganeering against the institutions in a conference the previous day, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
“The coalition government and my party are firmly committed to ensuring the freedom of expression of every citizen as per the Constitution,” he said.
“The government itself provides the citizens with forums where they can freely express their differing views and opinions on the matters of public importance,” he added.
“It is unfortunate that such forums are being used to target state institutions, especially the armed forces, for partisan political interests,” he expressed displeasure.
“The officers and jawans of the armed forces are sacrificing their lives to save the country from internal and external threats,” he stated.
“Assuring the nation of upholding the fundamental right to freedom of expression, I condemn the unjustified sloganeering against state institutions on Sunday,” he condemned.
“I regret that this was done by a few participants. We should be more responsible when in public,” he stressed.
