PM Kakar orders for passing benefits of reduction in petroleum prices to masses

The responsible authorities have been ordered by Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar to step up their efforts to ensure that the general public benefits from the drop in fuel prices.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, he presided over a special meeting in Islamabad to examine measures being made for the welfare of the populace in the wake of lower petroleum product prices.
Addressing the meeting, the prime minister gave instructions to deal with smugglers, hoarders, and unlawful profiteers harshly.
The PM claimed that the operation against power smugglers and pilferers had been successful since it directly benefited the average person.
He said that overall 41 billion rupees have been saved due to the stability of the rupee against the dollar and the reduction in petroleum prices, the benefit of which will reach the common man.
PM Kakar noted with satisfaction that due to administrative efforts, an 18 per cent decrease has been witnessed in the price of wheat and 16 per cent in sugar in Balochistan.
The meeting was briefed that prices of 24 essential items have decreased at the national level while the substantial reduction in the cost of agricultural production, electricity, rents and industrial production is being ensured.
The Ministry of Planning is using the 'Decision Support System for Inflation' App to monitor the prices of food and essential items.
Travel fares have also decreased by an average of ten per cent in the provinces due to initiatives of the provincial administrations.
Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries of the provinces gave briefings about measures being taken by their respective provincial governments.
