Amid rise in smog, Punjab government has directed all public and private schools in Lahore to open schools at 8:35am in the morning till January 31, 2025, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
According to the notification, all schools in the provincial capital will open up at 8:45am in the morning. Moreover, assembly of children will be held in the classroom while outdoor activities have been directed to be suspended. All types of fireworks have also been banned in Lahore till January 31, 2025.
Punjab Environment Protection Department has advised the parents and children to use masks and other protective measures to avoid smog. It further recommended the public to keep windows and doors of houses closed and do not stay in open places for long time. According to Marriyum Aurangzeb, the safety measures are must to protect citizens from the effects of smog. She urged the citizens to conduct urban vehicle fitness test and shun smoke-emitting vehicles which add to the smog.
