The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) has raised safety concerns with Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA), barring the aviation regulator from issuing new pilot licences, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

ICAO sought clarification on licences issued by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) by September 29, the TV channel reported.

The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will reply in a written response to the concerns raised by the ICAO, the PCAA sources maintained.

The International Civil Aviation Organization has put a question mark on Pakistan’s aviation regulator’s performance and expressed concerns over issuing new pilot licences.

The ICAO expressed concerns and directed PCAA to review already issued licences as the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) does not meet safety standards, the TV channel reported.

Now a Significant Safety Concern (SSC) will be implemented for not giving satisfactory answers as the international aviation body showed dissatisfaction with the procedure for issuing licenses to controllers, engineers and pilots by Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority, the TV channel reported quoting its resources.
