The election campaigns of the candidates have gained momentum as the Supreme Court Bar Association’s (SCBA) annual elections will be held on October 31, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Tuesday.
Flexes and posters of the candidates have been displayed outside the Supreme Court’s (SC) Lahore Registry and the Lahore High Court (LHC).
The candidates for coveted posts such as that of the president, vice president and secretary have started contacting senior lawyers to ensure their victory.
This year, the SCBA president will be from Balochistan.
Rauf Ata and Muneer Ahmad Kakar are the Independent Group’s and the Professional Group’s candidates for the seat of the president, respectively.
The initial list of the voters will be published today, while the complaints could be filed by September 26.
Decisions on these complaints will be announced the following day on September 27, while the final list of eligible voters will be issued on September 28.
The candidates would be able to file their nomination papers between September 30 and October 5, while the final status of these papers after the scrutiny of their papers would be announced on October 8.
The initial list of the candidates will be displayed on October 9, while appeals against the acceptance or rejection of these papers will be received on October 10, and the hearings of these appeals will continue until October 15.
The candidates will be able to withdraw their candidatures by October 17, and on October 19, the final list of the candidates will be displayed.
On October 31, polling will be held from 8:30 in the morning to 5:00 in the evening, and the results will be announced on November 4.
