The Higher Education Department of Punjab has officially announced the appointment of new Vice Chancellors for seven universities across the province, reported 24NewsHd TV channel.
As per the details, Prof Dr. Muhammad Zubair Iqbal has been appointed as the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan, while Engineer Prof Dr. Ahmad Shuja has taken over as VC of the University of Gujrat.
Additionally, Prof Dr. Muhammad Inayatullah Khan has been appointed to the University of Engineering and Technology (UET), Taxila.
Professor Dr. Amir Azam Khan is posted as the VC of the Khawaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology, Rahim Yar Khan, and Prof Dr. Shahid Munir has been appointed as VC of the University of Lahore.
Moreover, Professor Dr. Akif Anwar Chaudhry has been appointed as the VC of the University of Education, Lahore, marking his return to the leadership role at the institution.
The notification emphasized the extensive experience and qualifications of the newly appointed VCs.
Prof Dr. Shahid Munir, the new VC of UET Lahore, is a former Chairman of the Punjab Higher Education Commission and has served as Vice Chancellor at several institutions, including universities in Jhang, Sargodha, and Mianwali.
He holds a PhD from the University of Leeds, UK, and was recently awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan for his contributions to higher education. Dr. Munir also earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemical Engineering from the University of the Punjab.
In another key appointment, Prof Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah has been named Vice Chancellor of the University of Punjab.
Upon the issuance of the notification, Dr. Shah immediately assumed his new role, and the Governor of Punjab, acting as Chancellor, has appointed him for a four-year term.
Dr. Muhammad Ali Shah becomes the 164th Vice Chancellor of the prestigious University of Punjab.
Dr. Shah is an eminent academician and a specialist in biological sciences. He holds a PhD from the University of Wales, UK, and completed his post-doctorate from the University of Missouri, USA. Throughout his career, Dr. Shah has held leadership positions at GCU Faisalabad, Quaid-e-Azam University Islamabad, and Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. He began his teaching career at Lawrence College, Murree, and has received the "Best University Teacher Award" on three occasions.
Dr. Shah has published 235 research papers in national and international journals, and his academic contributions have earned him 19 national honors, including the Pakistan Academy of Sciences Gold Medal, Best University Teacher Award, Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, and Sitara-e-Imtiaz.
