A senior doctor died of coronavirus in Peshawar Saturday morning, as the number of infected people in the country jumped to 11,940, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Dr Prof Muhammad Javed was being treated at the isolation centre of Hayatabad Medical Complex as he had been diagnosed with the virus 15 days ago. He breathed his last after remaining on a ventilator for the past few days.
The deceased doctor was working in the ENT Department of Hayatabad Medical Complex.
On the other hand, the latest figures released by the National Command and Control Centre show that the virus was found in another 785 people during the past 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the number of active coronavirus cases now stands at 8,932, while 2,755 patients have fully recovered.
Punjab tops the list with 5,046 cases followed by Sindh 3,945, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 1,708, Balochistan 656, Gilgit-Baltistan 303, Islamabad 223 and Azad Kashmir 55.
Around 79 percent of the cases have been a result of local/community transmission while the rest are related to foreign travel.
On the other hand, the death toll jumped to 253 as 16 more people lost their lives because of the virus during the past 24 hours.
So far, 89 deaths have been recorded in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 75 in Sindh, 73 in Punjab, 10 in Balochistan and three each in Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Meanwhile, 6,780 tests were conducted during the past 34 hours after which the number of total tests currently stands at 138,147.
A total of 3,073 patients are receiving treatment in isolation wards around the country with 127 of them in a critical condition.
