NAB seizes 9,000-kanal land of accused involved in big UK mortgage fraud

The National Accountability Bureau on Saturday seized a property measuring 9,000 kanals of the accused who allegedly committed a 60 million pound mortgage fraud in England, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

An Islamabad accountability court Judge Muhammad Bashir ordered the seizure of the property of the accused.

According to details, the anti-graft watchdog confiscated 9,000 kanal land of accused Nisar Afzal, his family members and other Benamidars. Accountability Judge Muhammad Bashir issued the confiscation orders of the precious landed property.

NAB prosecutor Sohail Arif and investigation officer Aziz Rehan presented before the court.

According to the NAB, the accused who came back to Pakistan after committing 60 million pound mortgage fraud in England have acquired properties here worth billions of rupees. It informed that the landed property measuring 9,000 kanal owned by the accused was seized in Rawalpindi, Gojar Khan and Taxila. 

The watchdog said that the accused could not present any proof of the accumulation of their assets worth billions of rupees. 

The NAB said that action was being taken against the accused under Anti-Corruption Ordinance and Anti-Money Laundering Act.

The anti-graft body has already seized properties of accused Nisar Afzal and Saghir Afzal worth Rs50 billion. It has confiscated 11 bungalows owned by the accused in Islamabad’s posh F Sector. Their 650 kanal land in Islamabad’s Tarnol, Bhidana and Tamir areas was also seized. 

Besides this, the NAB has seized accused’s 10,000 kanal property across the Ring Road of Fateh Jhang and Attock.
