Pakistan is witnessing an uptick in Covid infections as its positivity ratio has increased to 0.40% during last 24 hours, showed the statistics released by the National Institute of Health (NIH) on Sunday morning, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Pakistan has detected another 15 Covid-19 infections with no fatality during the last 24 hours.
According to the NIH data, the death toll in the country is 30,636 whereas the number of total infections now climbed up to 1,575,680 after adding the fresh 15 cases.
During the last 24 hours, 3,749 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan whereas the positivity ratio settled at 0.40 percent. The number of patients in critical care was 16.
The uptick in infectivity ratio is alarming as the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) said Saturday that the “new variant” of Covid-19 currently being reported in China can pose a threat to Pakistan as well.
The lifting of the lockdown in China and free travelling has increased the risk of a new Covid variant entering into Pakistan.
According to the NCOC official, new variants have come in the past as well, but they were controlled in time. “We are fully prepared to tackle and control any variant.”
