The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Monday denied offering the election symbol "bat" to any candidate including PTI Parliamentarian Chairman Pervez Khattak, reported the 24NewsHD TV channel.

In a statement, the ECP spokesperson issued a rebuttal regarding the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Parliamentarians Chairman Pervez Khattak’s claim that he rejected to take the bat symbol.

Sharing his views in Peshawar on Monday, Khattak emphasized his commitment to advocating for the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, noting that changing political parties is part of the democratic process.

The former KP chief minister maintained that if independent candidates win elections, many of their supporters would join them.

He addressed the perception of him as a turncoat for leaving the PTI, stating that it is peculiar for people to consider him as such.

Khattak vowed that despite his party being relatively new, it is ready to contest the upcoming polls.

Expressing his thoughts in Peshawar, the former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister said: “The Supreme Court’s verdict on Friday had ended all the rumors revolved around holding the elections. “We welcome the apex court’s verdict. Those who are complaining about not having a level playing field should contest the elections,” Khattak said.

It is pertinent to mention that the ECP on Friday nullified the intra-party elections of the PTI , taking back the party's famous "cricket bat" symbol.
