The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has established online facilitation centre for the scrutiny of the nomination papers submitted by the candidates for contesting the February 8 general elections, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Monday.

This online facilitation centre for returning officers, which will be operational 24/7 and will be facilitated by NADRA, NAB, FIA, FBR and SBP, has been set up at Election Commission Secretariat in Islamabad, according to ECP spokesman.

The data of candidates, who submitted the nomination papers, is being sent to the above-mentioned departments for verification. The ECP has received the lists of candidates contesting the elections from the secretaries of Power Division, Petroleum Division, National Telecommunication Division and housing and Works Division. All four chief secretaries and the CDA chairman have also been instructed to get the list of candidates from the returning officers.

The ECP spokesman added that lists of candidates have already been unveiled on December 24.

The ECP spokesman advised the ineligible candidates to contact the relevant returning officer during the scrutiny of nomination papers from December 25 (today) to December 30. “The recovery of dues from the defaulter candidates should be ensured,” the spokesman added. All the federal and provincial departments were advised to contact the returning officers immediately.
