Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Monday reviewed the security arrangements for Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day during his visit to the Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) at Qurban Lines in Lahore, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
During the visit, the Punjab CM reviewed the security arrangements for churches and other events of December 25 through the CCTV cameras. The PSCA MD briefed the Punjab CM regarding security arrangements. Security agencies of the Punjab have already been alerted and ordered to be extra vigilant, the CM said. "Foolproof security arrangements have been ensured throughout the province," the CM added.
During a high-level meeting, Mohsin Naqvi ordered the authorities to complete the civil works for Safe City projects in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad before December 31. The CM said that Safe City projects are very important to protect the citizens’ property and lives, adding that there should be no delay in completion of such projects.
The CM directed the authorities to present daily progress report for three Safe City projects and asked the commissioners and RPOs to visit the projects on daily basis and present reports to him.
“After completing the civil works, the process of installation of equipment at these projects should be completed as early as possible,” the CM stressed. In Faisalabad 600 cameras, in Gujranwala 700 cameras and in Rawalpindi 750 cameras will be connected to the Safe City projects, the CM informed.
The Punjab CM also directed to initiate work on Safe City projects in small cities as early as possible. On the occasion, Naqvi also directed the authorities to advance the project for upgradation of 737 police stations in Punjab and asked them to complete the upgradation by January 31, 2023.
IG Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar briefed the CM on Safe City projects in Gujranwala, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad, upgradation of police stations and safe city projects in small cities of the province.
Punjab Information Minister Amir Mir, IG Police, senior Board of Revenue member, Additional IG Special Branch, Planning and Development Board chairman, CCPO Lahore, MD Punjab safe City Authority, secretary finance, secretary constructions and communications, commissioner Lahore Division and other senior officials attended the briefing, while the commissioners and RPOs of Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi and CCPO Rawalpindi attended the briefing via video link.
