Four companies have completed the feasibility study for the construction of a 10- kilometer-long tunnel in the Kalar Kahar Salt Range on M-2 (Motorway), connecting Lahore to Islamabad, to prevent accidents on the route which have become frequent now, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The construction of the tunnel will not only reduce accidents on the road but will also reduce the time taken to commute between the two cities by 25 to 35 minutes.
The National Highway Authority (NHA) GM has said that four firms had conducted the study.
He has informed that the process is being followed to hire the services of a consultant.
It is reminded here that the construction of the tunnel had been recommended at a steering committee meeting.
