The Sindh High Court (SHC) setting aside the Election Commission of Pakistan tribunal’s decision against PTI leader Saifullah Abro, on Thursday cleared his nomination papers for contesting the upcoming Senate elections due on March 3, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The court also issued the directive for immediately informing the ECP about its decision.

Saifullah Abro’s lawyer Makhdoom Ali Khan provided details of his client’s construction projects as an engineer who built railway line in Kotri, Kotri Industrial Area Project city flyover, bridge on railway line in Kashmore, Flyover Bridge in Tandomabad Hyderabad, Flyover Bridge on Railway Line in Nawabshah, Sukkur City Railway Line Bridge, Metro Bus Rawalpindi-Islamabad Metro Project and Saifullah Abro's Qalandar Bakhsh Company is also registered with the FBR.

While the complainant’s lawyer Haseeb Jamali tried to convince the court that Abro has no national achievements and not deemed fit for the Senate elections.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) suffered a huge blow ahead of Senate elections as Sindh Election Tribunal rejected the nomination papers of Saifullah Abro by declaring the returning officer’s (RO) verdict null and void.

In its verdict given in the appeal filed against the acceptance of Abro’s nomination papers for a technocrat seat, the tribunal said the objections raised in the appeal were found to be valid, that he did not meet the criterion of a technocrat, and, therefore, the appeal is accepted.
