Pakistan adds up 25 more coronavirus deaths, 1,122 infections

Pakistan has recorded another 25 coronavirus deaths and 1,122 infections during the last 24 hours (Thursday), showed the statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Friday morning.

As per the latest NCOC data, after the addition of 25 new deaths, the overall toll has now surged to 30,139 whereas the number of total infections now stood at 1,506,450 after adding the fresh 1,122 cases.

During the last 24 hours (Thursday), 41,142 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan whereas the positivity ratio stood at to 2.72 percent. The number of patients in critical care was 1,186.

During the last 24 hours (Thursday), as many as 2,550 patients have recovered from the virus whereas the total recoveries stood at 1,414,979. As of Friday, the total count of active cases in the country was recorded at 61,332.

As many as 566,505 coronavirus cases have so far been confirmed in Sindh, 500,395 in Punjab, 215,743 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 134,169 in Islamabad, 35,316 in Balochistan, 42,874 in Azad Kashmir and 11,448 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Moreover, 13,486 individuals have lost their lives to the pandemic in Punjab so far, 8,058 in Sindh, 6,235 in KP, 1,009 in Islamabad, 787 in Azad Kashmir, 375 in Balochistan and 189 in Gilgit Baltistan.

- More than 5.9 million dead -

Coronavirus has killed at least 5,914,829 people since the outbreak emerged in China in December 2019, according to an AFP tally compiled from official sources Thursday.

The United States has recorded the most Covid deaths with 941,908, followed by Brazil with 646,419 and India with 512,924.

Taking into account excess mortality linked to Covid-19, the WHO estimates the true death toll could be two to three times higher.
