The plain areas of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Upper Sindh will remain in the grip of heavy fog, weather experts warned.


According to 24NewsHD TV channel, the experts forecast severe cold due to continuous low daytime temperatures in fog-blanket areas. People have been advised to be cautious.


According to the Pakistan Metrological Department, the weather will remain cold and dry in Islamabad and its adjoining areas on Thursday.  There will be heavy fog in the morning and night, it added.


The Met Office predicted cold and dry in most of the districts of Punjab province, while Murree, Galiyat and adjacent areas will experience very cold and cloudy weather.


It added Bahawalpur, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Mangala, Faisalabad, Jhang, Sargodha, Mandi Bahauddin, Toba Tek Singh, Khanewal, Multan, Khanpur, Rahimyar Khan, Hafizabad, Bhakkar and Dera Ghazi Khan will be in the grip of heavy fog/smog. The day temperatures will remain below normal in most districts of the province, it maintained.


In most districts of KP, the weather will remain cold and partly cloudy while upper districts will experience intense cold and light rain/snowfall likely over Chitral, Dir, Swat, Kohot and Malakand during the night. Heavy fog is likely to prevail in Charsadda, Mardan, Nowshera, Swabi, Peshawar, Lucky Marwat, Bannu, Dera Ismail Khan and surrounding areas during the morning and night hours.


Cold weather is expected in most of the districts of Balochistan, while it is likely to remain very cold and partially cloudy in the northern districts. The weather will remain cold and dry in most of the districts of Sindh. Fog/smog is likely to prevail over Jacobabad, Hyderabad,  Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Ghotki, Khairpur and Kashmore.


The daytime temperatures will remain below normal in most of the districts of the province. Weather in Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will remain freezing and partly cloudy. Light rain/snowfall is likely at some places in Gilgit-Baltistan during the night
