Supreme Court (SC) judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah, presently hearing a contempt of court case against the additional registrar (judicial), has written a letter to the committee of judges in which he has raised objections over the composition of a bench, hearing an intra-court appeal, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

Sources told 24News TV channel that the judge, in the letter, had objected to the inclusion of Justice Jamal Mandokhel and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar in the new bench, saying they both were part of the constitutional committee, which would now hear the case which initially his bench was due to hear.

Justice Mansoor, the sources went on to say, wrote in the letter that he had suggested the formation of a five-member bench. “But Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi had later said that a four-member bench would be sufficient.”

However, when the bench was formed, there were six judges on it, the judge wrote.
