Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has directed the authorities to screen all people visiting cattle markets to buy sacrificial animals.
In line with the chief minister’s instructions, Punjab Chief Secretary Jawad Rafique Malik told the officials on Friday to set up screening pickets at entrances to all cattle markets. The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department issued testing protocols for people visiting the cattle markets. All buyers and sellers coming to cattle markets will be screened for coronavirus, say the protocols.
Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Secretary Muhammad Usman said that people showing coronavirus symptoms would be asked to give samples and samples would be sent to laboratories for testing. People will be sent to hospital or quarantined at home until their test results are out. People testing positive for coronavirus will be sent to hospital or quarantined at home. Nobody will be allowed to enter cattle markets without screening.
The official said that only one person from a family should visit the cattle market instead of multiple people. He said that people coming to cattle markets should take all precautionary measures to protect themselves against coronavirus. He said that saving people’s lives and protecting them against virus is the first priority of the Punjab government.
