A citizen has requested the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa to take suo moto notice of an increase in the fees of private medical colleges, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.

In a letter to the CJP, Advocate Zulfiqar Bhutta has also prayed to him to order a reduction in the annual fee being charged by these colleges from Rs2,250,000 to between Rs1 million and Rs1.2 million.

He has said that in 2018, the Supreme Court (SC) had ordered that the annual fee of these colleges should be Rs850,000. “But despite that, an astounding hike in the fees was announced,” he has said, adding that this act by the administrations of these colleges amounts to contempt of court.
