The Rangers force on Saturday confessed arresting social media activist and journalist Arsalan Khan from Clifton, Karachi in connection with his contacts with a terrorist group. However, the activist was released after giving warning to him, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

According to the Rangers, Amir Arsalan who is known as AK 47 on Twitter was allegedly taking money from a terrorist group. The Rangers officials whisked him away and grilled him. However, they later released him after issuing a warning

PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar denounced the arrest of social media activist saying that he heard the video message of the wife of Arsalan in which she said that the authorities whisked away her husband because he talked and wrote too much on social media. She said that it was not a crime to write and talk on social media rather it was a crime to forcibly disappear a citizen.

Yesterday, the Amnesty International also expressed its deep concern over the abduction of Arsalan asking Pakistan to end this abhorrent practice of punishing dissent by wrenching people away from their loved ones.

Arsalan was associated with different broadcasts in the past and now has been active on Twitter. He is currently associated with a civil society organisation called Karachi Bachao Tehreek (KBT).
