Eight die, 50 hurt in fatal smash between two buses in Nawabshah

Eight people, including a woman, were killed while 50 others were seriously injured when two speeding passenger buses collided with each other near Balochpur stop on the Mehran Highway in Nawabshah, Sindh, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

One of the buses was heading from Karachi to Obaro while the other was from Peshawar to Karachi.

Soon after the incident, the emergency was announced at nearby hospitals. 

The deceased woman was identified as Razia Bibi, a resident of Karachi, while three other deceased passengers were Qurban Mirani, Abdul Majeed Solangi, and Agha Gul Khan.  

Police said that over 45 injured passengers had been shifted to Peoples Medical Hospital in Nawabshah, while four others, including a child, to the intensive care unit of the same hospital.

It is pertinent to mention here that keeping in view the growing number of accidents, the Sindh High Court (SHC) had imposed a complete ban on the movement of passenger buses on the Mehran Highway.
